הדס hadas – Myrtus communnis, also called the common myrtle. A flowering shrub endemic to the Mediterranean and North Africa, the common myrtle is one of hundreds of sub-species found worldwide. It is one of the Four Species of plants used in building the sukka, along with date palm (לולב, lulav), willow (aravah, ערבה) and citron (etrog אֶתְרוֹג).
