A nasi at the time that R. Yoḥanan was the head of the Tiberias academy. He was known Nesia (Aramaic for president) to distinguish him from his grandfather.(Rabbi Yehudaa Hanasi).In some sources he too was referred to as Rabbi, since he was likewise a great scholar. An admirer of R. Yoḥanan, he had served for many years as academy head and developed uniquely Palestinian methods of study.
