Abba ben Rav Hamma, Babylonian amora and contemorary of Abaye. Often regarded as a central pillar of Babylonian learning. A very rich merchant, he lived in Mehoza, the center of influence and trade at the time. His hundreds of debates with Abaye and the discussions that they and their disciples held are classic examples of the methods of the Babylonian Talmud.
