Jehoram or Joram, king of Judah after his father Jehoshaphat. His reign was brief and fraught with unrest – several revolts, including that of the Edomites, destabilized his control. The prophet Elijah warned Jehoram of the dangers of straying from the “God of his Father”; Jehoram was punished with a drawn-out, painful death. He is often confused with Jehoram of Israel, with whom he formed an alliance through marriage to Athaliah of the House of Ahab.
